Mountain Family release Goodbye Mr Butterfly EP on District Raw

Since the recession hit hard its fair to say that we all love a bargain, value for money is key, especially when buying music, none of your 4 min nonsense tracks here. On listening to this two track EP which heads up nearly 20 mins of aural pleasure by Mountain Family. Released on Fabio Giannelli's label District Raw, delivered by local lads Mark and Luke McEvoy aka Company is family, (they handed us Beat-Vision podcast 002 last week which is the dogs dangles) and Adam Helliwell aka Skyland Mountain. Many of you may know him as the face who wracks up your vinyl bill at Liverpool’s local vinyl emporium 3B Records which he runs with fellow Liverpool DJ / producers Thomas Tuff and Freeze / Cream resident Jemmy. The EP’s header "Goodbye Mr Butterfly" is a blistering 9 minutes of deepness, although I have never been, if I ever managed to get a set at Burning Man festival, then I think this tracks sums up the essence of being in a dreary desert, oozing with soul, poignant in connecting you to nature. Beautiful piano keys meets a harrowing overtone of spiritual harmony. If 9 minutes wasn’t enough the B-side “Angelu Dub" cracks on for just over 10, and personally its my favourite out of the two tracks on this EP. Slow cooked warm warm baseline pulls you down a harmonious plinky plunky road guided by wormhole synth chords. This track oozes soul and wouldn’t be out of place in a John Talbot or Ewan Pearson set. Sublime. To make a tracks this length it needs substance and enough grab to keep your tuned in, both tracks do this with ease. We look forward to more from Mountain Family.
