Sphere Gear comprises six new cuts from the Dronelock duo plus remix from S

The second delivery from Shadow Story’s limited edition sister label, Sphere Gear will be released in February and comprises six new cuts from the Dronelock duo plus a remix from Sweden’s Rivet.

In recent months Dronelock have stepped up a gear, launching their Shadow Story label alongside Serbian duo, Ontal and announcing the Sphere Gear offshoot as they continue to gather support from some of the world’s most discerning players like Surgeon, James Ruskin, Inigo Kennedy and Lakker. Their most recent release alongside Ontal on Shadow Story even saw a play from B. Traits on BBC Radio 1 and you can catch them in the mix on Darkfloor’s Mantis show here –

This forthcoming EP opens with a thunder clap as Dronelock maintain their forage into the darker recesses of techno and its derivatives whether it’s the industrial poundings of ‘Skates’ and the beat-laden ‘Uneven Numbers’, the dappled atmospherics of ‘Lost in Translation’ and eerie ambience of ‘Hath’ and ‘Shreds’, or the pure experimentalism of ‘Hath Part 2’.

Like-minded artist, Rivet (Skudge / Kontra-Musik) also delivers his second remix for Dronelock, having previously re-worked their ‘Clusters’ track. Here he takes ‘Theia’ (from Sphere Gear 001) into peak-time techno territory to close the EP.

Following on in March, Shadow Story will be picking up the baton with its third release so look out for more decisive material from this notable camp.
